The Studio
MADE WITH INTENTION.
Hand & Form is a custom furniture studio in Aledo, Texas, built around a simple belief: the things we live with should be worth making well.

Every piece is designed with purpose, shaped by hand, and made one at a time.
The Beginning
The work came before the name.
Hand & Form grew from years of making furniture, learning new techniques, solving problems, and developing a clearer sense of what the work should become.

Over time, that direction became more specific: solid wood, considered proportions, thoughtful details, and furniture made for a particular person and place.
​
Hand & Form was created to pursue that work deliberately.
The Inheritance
Some Tools come with a history.
Long before Hand & Form, woodworking was already part of the Draper family story.
​
My grandfather, Raymond Edward Draper, was a naturalist, educator, and furniture maker. I began learning woodworking from him when I was young, and today some of his tools still have a place in my shop.
​
So does his original collection of Woodsmith magazines, carefully organized into bound volumes. They aren't kept behind glass. They're still a working library, occasionally pulled from the shelf when an old solution is worth revisiting.

The name
The hand of the maker.
The form of the piece.
Hand & Form is a reflection of how the work comes together.

The hand represents the maker: the judgment, skill, and small decisions that shape a piece throughout the process.
​
The form is what emerges from that work: proportion, material, function, and the way a piece belongs within its space.
Neither matters much without the other.

The work
Furniture should belong.
Hand & Form is built around a simple idea: a piece of furniture should feel as though it could only belong in the place it was made for.
​
That means considering more than dimensions. Proportion, material, grain, movement, function, and the character of the room all become part of the design.
​
The goal isn't to make more furniture. It's to make fewer pieces, more deliberately, for people who value what it means to have something made specifically for them.

Some things dont need to be visible to be part of what was made.
Faith is part of who I am, and naturally, it shapes the way I approach my work.

I believe the things we make, the way we work, and the way we serve people matter. So every commission is approached with gratitude, intention, and respect for the people and the home it is being made for.
​
There are parts of that process that will never be visible in the finished piece. They aren't meant to be. They are simply part of the way I choose to make.
